Alasdair Roberts is a singer and guitarist from Glasgow.
His work mainly consists of two parallel strands: self-written song material (which can be heard on albums such as Farewell Sorrow, The Amber Gatherers, Spoils and A Wonder Working Stone) and interpretations of traditional songs and ballads from Scotland and beyond (which can be heard on albums such as The Crook of My Arm, No Earthly Man and Too Long In This Condition).
Alasdair has collaborated widely with many different musicians throughout his musical career, including the Scottish Gaelic singer Mairi Morrison, with whom he made the 2012 album Urstan.
He is a member of the English/Scottish folk quartet The Furrow Collective, along with Lucy Farrell, Rachel Newton and Emily Portman.
“He succeeds because he is a fine storyteller, making even the best-known song sound as if he wrote it” – Robin Denselow, The Guardian

Bodmin Folk Club
Bodmin Folk Club
In 1967, a small group of enthusiasts who met weekly to sing in the Masons Arms decided to start a club to attract traditional performers to Cornwall. The first recorded club night of the Bodmin Traditional Folk Club was on 31st May 1968 in an upper room at The Barley Sheaf.
Since then, the club has met almost every single Friday night, welcoming a range of singers, musicians and occasional dancers from Britain and beyond at both guest nights and open houses.
Our new home is upstairs at Bodmin Band & Social Club, with drinks at social club prices.
Find us there every Friday except Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and the August Bank Holiday weekend, when we’re at Cornwall Folk Festival.
