 BAIT (2019) [UK]

Director Mark Jenkin.
Duration 89 minutes
A Screening of Bait with a free pasty, followed by dancing to Cornish Celtic music from Money to the Moon.
Mark Jenkin’s film Bait, set in Cornwall.
Modern-day Cornish fisherman Martin (Edward Rowe) is struggling to buy a boat while coping with family rivalry and the influx of London money, holiday-homes and stag parties to his harbour village.
The summer season brings simmering tensions within the community to boiling point, with tragic consequences.
Stunningly shot on a vintage 16mm camera using monochrome Kodak stock, Mark Jenkin’s Bait is a timely and funny, yet poignant new film that gets to the heart of a community facing up to change.
This will be followed by dancing with Money to the Moon – a Penzance-based five-piece band playing acoustic Cornish Celtic music from the past 400 years. Their unique combination of two fiddles, mandolin, bouzouki and melodeon, creates a multi-textured sound bringing the emotion and energy of beautiful Cornish tunes to life.
Free Cornish pasty with every pre-booked ticket
