Ben Campbell
Born and bred in Newcastle, Ben has been immersed in the South West folk music scene since 1969 when he was stationed here in the Royal Marines.
Ben was introduced to folk music whilst serving in Singapore by the late, great Johnny Collins who was to become his mentor.
Whilst traditional music is still his first love, Ben has gone on to write many songs over the last thirty years.
The latest project has been in conjunction with his old friend John Benns. During the lockdown periods they wrote over twenty songs together, some of which can be heard on a CD made in Phil Beer's studio and featuring Phil on many different backing instruments.
Ben has played in Folk Clubs and Festivals the length and breadth of the country.
You can expect traditional ballads, songs about miners, soldiers, blue dungarees, songs of love and loss as well as a bit of Geordie humour..
