“Two Folk Legends - make a rare visit - their only visit to mid-Cornwall”

Bridget St John

A true legend of the British folk scene, Bridget St John has one of those voices, distinctively deep and somewhat melancholic, that once heard is never forgotten.. Her "To be without a hitch" / "Autumn lullaby" (1969) was one of the first two singles released by Dandelion Records, John Peel's label; “Ask Me No Questions” -- including the earlier single, and sparingly produced by Peel -- was the label's first LP.

The follow-up, the more highly regarded “Songs for the Gentle Man”, was produced by Ron Geesin. During this time she played with dozens of top musicians and became close friends with Nick Drake, John Martyn, Al Stewart and a host of others.

In the mid 70’s she left these shores for America, settling quietly in New York. She resisted all offers to perform until a couple of years ago when she played at Bush Hall in London. Since then, she has visited the UK twice and earlier this year she captivated audiences during a sell-out tour with her old friend Michael Chapman.

“She's continued to make unique, heartfelt music” Mojo Magazine

Michael Chapman
The guitar and voice of Michael Chapman first became known on the Cornish Folk Circuit in 1967. Playing a blend of atmospheric and autobiographical material he established a reputation for intensity and innovation that he has maintained to this day.

His big breakthrough came with the album 'Fully Qualified Survivor' which was John Peel's favourite album of 1970 and although commercial success has always somehow eluded him he remains one of the most popular musicians in Britain today.

Michael is without doubt one of our finest and most emotive guitarists and this, coupled with the instantly recognisable voice and his refusal to take the easy, comfortable path, has made him one of the most respected musicians around.

“Chapman's expansive guitar work creates a filmic soundtrack of the American South-west that's as compelling as anything Ry Cooder might muster” : Q Magazine
