Chekhov's - The Cherry Orchard
Date: Thursday 1st April
Time: 19:30
Liubov Ranevskaya, a widowed landowner, returns home more or less insolvent after five years abroad. Everything appears just as she remembers it but hers is a diminishing world.
The vast and beautiful cherry orchard is soon to be sold off against her mounting debts.
The insistent warnings of Lopakhin, a peasant’s son turned wealthy businessman, go unheeded, and more than the family’s estate is on the block: in the words of Trofimov, the ‘eternal student’ who hopes to inherit the future, ‘the whole of Russia is our orchard’.
Chekhov’s last play is a poignant and comic snapshot of the great, slow-rolling change that came to a head with the Russian Revolution in 1917.
Directed by Emma Spurgin Hussey and designed by Jackie Moule.

This is the Burrell Theatre at Truro, Cornwall
The Burrell was officially opened by Sir Tim Rice in 2002, and went on to be awarded a special commendation by the Cornwall Buildings Group.
The Burrell plays host to theatre and dance companies from Cornwall and all over the country, plus live music, lectures and conferences.
The Burrell also has its own theatre company in residence: Cube Theatre Company produce one show a year at the Burrell which they then tour the country with. This gives pupils from Truro School an opportunity to witness the production process of a professional show.
They also produce and direct three Truro School shows a year. The Burrell Theatre also host Truro Schools A-level and GCSE theatre studies and drama productions.
To say the least, the Burrell Theatre is a very busy and vibrant theatre, and is fast becoming Cornwall’s favourite multi purpose venue.
