The picturesque port of Charlestown was created in 1799 as a mineral port.

This walk explores its history from its early days as a tiny fishing village and its transformation into a shipping community with a wide range of occupations such as shipbuilders, mariners, sailmakers and more up to WW2.

It continues to be a popular film location, featuring in films small and large such as The Eagle has Landed and Frenchman’s Creek and it has proved an ideal location for Poldark.
