Helen Porter – Constant as The World
Known as the vocalist with the progressive jazz quartet Misbehavin’, Helen now presents a performance of her own songs and piano solos, interspersed with timeless classics by the likes of Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael and Allie Wrubel.
Effortlessly crossing boundaries between jazz, music theatre and contemporary classical, the haunting vocals, wry observations and new takes on old favourites are all performed by this highly accomplished pianist and expressive singer.
“Helen Porter’s songs combine the emotional astringency of Sondheim with haunting melancholy of the great chanteuses like Barbara or K D Laing. ”…Patrick Gale, author and director of St. Endellion Literature Festival.
