Icon Theatre Present Release
Date: Monday 11th June 2012
Time: 19:30
Fringe First Award winner and hit of the 2011 Edinburgh Festival, Release explores the lives of three prisoners in their first few months after release, as they attempt to reconnect with the people and remnants of life they left behind.
At a time when two thirds of UK prisoners re-offend within two years, Release fuses high energy physical theatre, an original score and mixed media to create an explosive insight into just how hard it is to go straight.
With a high profile cast including Shane Shambhu (Ramanujan in Complicite's A Disappearing Number), and Verity Hewlett (Queen Victoria in Queen Victoria's Men, Channel 4), Release was created through a two year development process of interviews, research and site visits with prisoners, ex-offenders, hostel managers and probation officers.
Release has received development support from the Young Vic, Arts Council England, Toynbee Studios and the South Hill Park Arts Centre.

This is the Burrell Theatre at Truro, Cornwall
