Kairos is an ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment. The ancient Greeks had two words for time, chronos and kairos. While the former refers to chronological or sequential time, the latter signifies a time in between, an undetermined moment of time in which something special happens. What the special something is depends on who is using the word. While chronos is quantitative, kairos has a qualitative nature.

Formed in the spring of 2008 to play the original compositions of saxophonist Adam Waldmann, Kairos 4tet features some of the UK's most exciting, young instrumentalists. From ferocious grooves to plaintive, soaring melodies with an emphasis on rhythmically engaging, communicative lyricism- Kairos 4tet's collective spirit was recently put to "tape" for their debut album 'Kairos Moment'.

Recorded over a weekend in October 2008 at Phoenix Sound, in Pinewood Studios, London, it is the opening account of a band already making positive waves:
