Murray Lachlan Young
'Modern Cautionary Tales For Children'
From the moment Murray Lachlan Young bounds onto the stage, hair wrapped in a towel, dressing gown flapping, you know you’re in for a good time.
Best of all, he knows exactly what your average 6–10-year-old is interested in – toilets, poo and death being three key subjects discussed during the show.
A mixture of poetry, stand-up comedy, storytelling, a touch of panto, and lots of fun participation from the very wonderful Murray Lachlan Young. A hilarious and positive route to showing children that poetry can be fun, thought-provoking and even quite cool!
A raucous, silly, scary, funny, poignant and enlightening hour of merriment and mayhem, packed with dark tales and nonsense. This show gets children dancing on-stage, completing simple fun poems, being ponies and getting seriously involved in live interactive poetry. Widely regarded as one of the UK’s foremost Performance Poets, BBC 6 Resident Poet and a regular fixture on BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live , BBC Test Match Special, The Shipping Forecast and current resident post on BBC 6 Music. Regular appearances at countless festivals include Glastonbury,WOMAD,Latitude,Isle of Wight and Edinburgh Festival.
“Enchanting”. – Sunday Times
The great thing about the show is that it’s about improvisation and connection and it’s about having no fear, so you find yourself in a place where you can’t fail.” – Murray Lachlan Young
