(PCH32) The Postman Poet - Liz Shakespeare

The extraordinary story of a forgotten 19th-century Devon poet.

Despite attending school for only four months, Edward Capern achieved national renown for the poems he wrote while walking the Devon lanes on his postman’s round.

Liz Shakespeare’s novel, The Postman Poet, draws on historical research and Capern’s own writing to tell his story, capturing the opportunities and inequalities of the Victorian age.
