'The 3 Daft Monkeys'
To celebrate the release of their brand new album “The Year of the Clown”, Cornwall-based festival favourites “3 Daft Monkeys” are planning an extravagant night of fun, frolics, circus, prizes and dancing at the Princess Pavilion !
They are proud to announce that their special guests will include stunning and evocative music from “The People’s String Foundation”, and rabble-rousing local circus and music collective “The Roustabouts”.
In between the acts there will be entertainment from walkabout circus performers, and epic electro-swing beats from DJ Karmaloji..
3 Daft Monkeys will be performing vibrant and sparkling songs from the new album, along with some of their classic audience favourites. The band will be joined onstage by a plethora of special guest musicians, including brass and string sections, to create a night to remember.
With Celtic and eastern influences, the 3 Daft Monkeys’ style of world folk music reflects the global village in which we now live. Their infectious dancing rhythms lead you through a musical journey of the senses and emotions, and will leave you breathless, enthralled and exhilarated. Now with a 4-piece line-up, the band are taking their famously dynamic live show to new danceable dizzy heights.
The new album is vibrant, colourful and intense, whimsically revolving around themes such as love and politics. The title track of “Year of the Clown” is a social ironic comment on the strange and disturbing times we find ourselves in, where the ‘elected principles’ in the world circus appear to be the fools.
After experiencing the band’s notoriously energetic live performance at Glastonbury, Mark Radcliffe declared them as one of his “Highlights of the Festival” on BBC TV, and subsequently invited them to play a session on his BBC Radio 2 Folk Show.
The People’s String Foundation play beautifully languid and lush original music. Theirs is unfamiliar territory, scaling the heights of jazz, hip-hop beat-work, Middle Eastern melodies- performed with an eye toward experimentation and nods toward the avant-garde.
The Roustabouts are a gypsy cabaret collective of musicians and performers based in Falmouth. Performing a mixture of gypsy, folk, dance and swing influenced arrangements and original songs, they offer a mini musical circus experience that will amuse, bemuse and amaze.
DJ Karmaloji will be delighting us with ‘The Swunk’, a mixture of classic swing, electro swing and ghetto funk.
Following a highly successful crowdfunding campaign, 3DM are very excited to be releasing their first CD in 3 years, and think Princess Pavilion is the perfect place to celebrate, surrounded by some of Cornwall’s finest musicians and performers.

The desire to dance is irresistible.
