Tom Ridout : 'No Excuses Band'
Award winning saxophonist and recorder player Tom Ridout presents his new quintet, all rising stars of the jazz world. Playing a mix of originals, jazz standards, folk and even the odd Beatles number, this is sure to be an exciting night of music.
A graduate from the prestigious Royal Academy of Music and current member of NYJO, Tom was a finalist in the BBC Young Musician Jazz Award 2016. His broad musical influences include Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter and Michael Brecker, as well as Joni Mitchell, English Folk, John Scofield and Led Zeppelin.
In November 2018, Tom won the Lancaster Jazz Festival Youth Commission with his 'Handel on Jazz' project, a reworking of Handel's recorder sonatas for an improvising trio of recorder (Tom), acoustic guitar (Billy Marrows) and double bass (Flo Moore).
