This gripping musical narrative has it all - Barbary pirates, shipwrecks, mysterious goings on, betrayal and redemption, plus a generous helping of local gossip!
Enter a bygone world filled with original music and songs by the critically acclaimed Cornish band Tyn Daga (described as ‘World class’ by The Cornish Guardian) with dramatic story telling, a host of compelling characters, film and atmospheric sound-scapes - a feast for the imagination and the senses suitable for all ages!
Our narrator will present the story to the audience, interwoven with and within a suite of songs and instrumental music (all original except for two traditional Moorish/Galician instrumental pieces).
At specific times, the narrator will also play the protagonist of the main part of the story – a 17th Century Cornish faith healer called Eloise Tregeagle. Members of the band will also bring characters from the story to life at specific times.
The period of the story spans from 16th century raids on the Cornish coast by Barbary pirates, through to a Spanish raid on Newlyn and finally to the voyage of the Rosebud from Newlyn to the Houses of Parliament in 1937.
The production features theatre & film actor Natalie Mossayebi (Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Life - West End Musical, Grimms' Fairytales)
"I think it’s brilliant…This is the sort of stuff that’s needed out there, voices of today…A really exciting project”. Pauline Sheppard, Playwright (Dressing Granite, Tin and Fishes)
