Vagabond Verses

The Poetry of Crosbie Garstin

David Tovey, the biographer of the Cornish-born author, artist and adventurer Crosbie Garstin (1887-1930), draws upon Crosbie’s very varied poetry, both published and unpublished, to tell the story of his extraordinary globe-trotting life, which saw him work as a cowpuncher, broncho-buster, lumberjack, gold miner, bush ranger and cavalryman, before finding fame not only as a poet, but also as the producer of comic, romantic and adventure tales, and witty illustrated  travelogues.

Many of his poems were later set to music.
