Gillard Events
Newlyn's Centre is home to a poetry group called Drollow which was founded by Les Gillard and Ashan Stammers in 2008.
The Centre also hosts many dramas and musical events and is noted for its good musical acoustics.
Drollow is working with The Centre to put on a Feast of Words & Song in July (a free accessible intro to poetry and creative use of language for all, especially young people) and events like the Stamp & Go concerts.
Les Gillard was chairman of the Penzance Proms Festival Committee which held the first season in October 2010. Les hopes to correct the dearth of Shanty Music in West Cornwall by bringing in the highly talented Perranporth singers again!
They were a big hit last year!
