Review of the Show from Welsh Soundboard Magazine
With political leaders determined to sow as much fear and divisiveness as they possibly can in the world these days, it was a relief to slip into the Gwyn Hall, Neath and thanks to the Ultimate Classic Rock Show enjoy an evening where everyone in the audience cast aside any differences and were brought together through their sheer love of music.

Having devoted most of my life listening to dance, from disco to EDM, it was a shock to hear and recognise so many rock songs from what I now realise was the soundtrack to the background of that life. Every number acted like a time capsule, reminding me of when I first heard them and where I was at that particular moment.
Opening with Dire Straits’s Money for Nothing, belting through Wings’ Live and Let Die, soaring with Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, rattling the rafters with John Miles’s Music and even bringing in a chorus of schoolkids for Pink Floyd’s The Wall, the entire evening was one of pure unadulterated joy.
And the audience! What you would have expected to resemble a rock concert in a care home (given the current age of those who’d grown up in the ‘70s loving bands like Free and The Eagles), turned out to be the complete opposite with youngsters, families and married couples all bopping their heads, cheering, even dancing in the aisles.
Kudos to lead singers Rory Bridgeman and Sammi Broad for delivering such dynamic performances, lead guitarist the legendary Luke Bradshaw who created the show, Gareth Kedward on keyboards, Pablo Roberts Morales bass guitar, with Rhys Roberts on drums and Andy Park on guitar and vocals. For the seamless and tightly staged production, thanks goes to Adrian Bamford not forgetting Ian Parsons for his stellar work as promoter for the whole tour.
Extra kudos to those schoolkids from the Fame Factory Theatre School in Neath for bringing urgency as well as great voices to a song more politically pertinent than ever.
A cold and miserable saturday night in the largely deserted streets of Neath. But inside the Gwyn Hall, in a warm and friendly environment, some of the best rock music ever created expertly rendered by one of the finest shows/bands around, enjoyed by an enthusiastic audience forgetting for a couple of hours the problems of an uncertain world.
Me, I’m still humming Toto’s Rosanna…!
