Date: Friday 11th December 2015
The Friends of St Ives Guildhall
Kangaroo Moon's story began in 1988 when core members Mark Robson, Elliet Mackrell, David Williams and Matt Ledgar found themselves brought together in the Peace Train, a colourful collective of like-minded idealistic artists, musicians and dreamers that was travelling around Australia.
They soon forged a musical identity that took their folk and psychedelic rock influences into a highly original sound. This brought them a recognition that still today defies categories and genres. It appeals across musical boundaries, pre-dating the celtic and global mashups so popular in the 90's with the likes of Afro Celt and the Real World collaborations.
Weaving folk, jazz, rock, electronic, funk and global influences into a highly danceable, musically complex, many headed hydra heartlifting psychedelic wall of sound that takes their audiences on an intense but liberating rhythmic journey.
Since first arriving to tour in the UK in 1992, they've played all over Europe, the USA and Australia, appearing at festivals that include WOMAD, Glastonbury, Woodford , Sfinks, and Broadstairs.
Today, with over 25 years of experience, and many albums to their credit, Kangaroo Moon continue to go from strength to strength.
