SMH5 Timothy Dean And Friends : The Lark Above The Trenches -

Date: Saturday 7th July 2018
Time: 19:30

Timothy Dean And Friends :
The Lark Above The Trenches

Following last year's memorable, To Lyonesse and Back, Timothy Dean and friends present, The Lark Above the Trenches, a powerful and evocative collage of personal letters, poetry and song from the time of WW1.

This compelling narrative, both personal and universal, touches on some of the themes and stories of the Great War: the idealism of the young recruit, the pride of the young wife or girlfriend, the realities of separation and life in the trenches, the ultimate challenge and sometimes the ultimate sacrifice.

The programme will include songs by Hubert Parry, George Butterworth (killed in action 1916), Ivor Gurney (sent home after a gas attack) and Frank Bridge (conscientious objector) and the poetry of Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon, Eleanor Farjeon and Muriel Graham.

Tim will be joined by Rose Stachniewska (soprano) and Nick Hurndall Smith (tenor).
