Angela Crow - Branwell Bronte & Dylan Thomas

Angela Crow

Date: Wednesday 25th July 2012
Time: 16:00

Angela Crow 'remembers' Branwell Brontë and Dylan Thomas through their poetry and prose. Strikingly similar in many ways, both men had a local connection: Branwell's mother Maria came from Penzance while Dylan was married in Penzance and lived in Newlyn for a time.

Angela's association with the Brontës goes back to her schooldays, when she played truant to appear with a touring theatre company as Adele in a performance of 'Jane Eyre'.

After winning awards as a student at RADA, she embarked on an acting career that included taking the part of Lily Smalls in the original stage production of 'Under Milk Wood'. She has made a particular study of Dylan Thomas.

Her TV credits are many. Her very first TV role was opposite Peter O'Toole in 'The Laughing Woman', and for three years she was a regular in 'Coronation Street'. But she maintained her interest in the Brontës, and is an authority on the Branwell family of Penzance and the Brontë family of Haworth, as well as being a trustee of the Parsonage in Haworth.

She is the author of 'Miss Branwell’s Companion' (Alethia Books, 2007) and of a forthcoming book on Mrs Brontë’s influence on her daughters Charlotte, Emily and Anne.
