The Changing Room with The Oggymen

The Changing Room and The Oggymen in concert together for the first time, and in Cornwall.

Describing their music as “Rootsy, authentic folk with a dash of Cornish language and a good dollop of humour”, Cornwall’s award-winning folk band The Changing Room have already released four EPs and two full albums, one of which features in The Daily Telegraph’s “Best Folk Albums of 2015’ list.

Looe-based Tanya Brittain and Sam Kelly created The Changing Room in 2014, and have never looked back since. The band won all three categories of the 2015 International Pan Celtic Song Contest: Best Original Song (for Tanya’s shanty-style composition Row Boys Row), Best Traditional Song in a Celtic Language (for their rendition of Delyow Sevi which is on their new album), and Overall Winner. Sam also won the Horizon Award at the 2016 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. The Changing Room tracks feature regularly on national and international radio, and they are particular favourites of BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4.

Sam and Tanya are the two constant members of The Changing Room, and the door is left open for the line-up of other musicians to change and evolve. The band’s regular five-piece touring line-up includes Jamie Francis on banjo, Evan Carson on percussion and Morrigan Palmer Brown on harp. Guests on the band’s albums have included John McCusker, Belinda O’Hooley, Jon Cleave, Polperro Fishermen’s Choir, Tim Ashton and The Oggymen.

The Oggymen, are a group of boys from Falmouth who sing mostly Cornish songs and drink Cornish Ale. They describe their music as 'definitely not shanty’. The Oggymen were guest vocalists on The Changing Room’s debut album and supported Kernow King’s 'Trevithick' at Hall for Cornwall.

The two groups will perform a full show together for the first time at Penlee Park Open Air Theatre.
