Date: Friday 2nd June 2017
John Lawrence and Gaby Morgan
Illustrating and Working with Charles
John Lawrence is an eminent illustrator and engraver.
He has illustrated over 200 books including Watership Down.
In 1986, he supplied the illustrations to Charles Causley’s Collected Poems for Children, a third edition of which has recently been reissued by Macmillan in its Classics series.
John hopes to bring along some of the original art-work for that book, and will talk about working with Charles, as well as his illustration work and career more generally.
Gaby Morgan is the Editorial Director of the Macmillan Children's Books poetry list.
She has compiled a number of best-selling anthologies including Read Me: A Poem for Every Day of the Year and Poems from the First World War. Gaby, too, will talk about working with Charles, and about her editorial work and insights in general.
The session will include a joint ‘In Conversation’ session between these two individual parts, as well as space for questions and answers from the audience.
