Dave O’Higgins Quartet
A welcome return for Dave, last seen at Calstock Arts performing with the Darius Brubeck Quartet.
Dave’s saxophone sound is highly personal and recognisable, with a clear sense of melodic development and adventure. He has a wide palette from Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane and Joe Henderson through to Stanley Turrentine and Michael Brecker.
Dave’s quartet, featuring Sebastiaan de Krom (drums), Geoff Gascoyne (bass) and Graham Harvey (piano) is a band that loves to swing and draw on blues and functional harmonies, as well as the great tome of jazz vocabulary.
Their new CD, “It’s Always 9.30 In Zog” fizzes with life and panache.
Doors & Licensed Bar from 7.00pm, start time 8.00pm.
The event ends about 10.15pm. Plenty of time to catch the train back to Plymouth. Calstock Arts is only a few minutes walk from Calstock Rail Station
