The Finnish-Arabian Encounters concert series has taken Laura Virtanen, Wessam Amin and Marko Hilpo to Finland, Egypt and the UK, presenting a programme of western classical music mixed with oriental flavour.
Finnish violinist Laura Virtanen is the principal 2nd violinist of Cairo Symphony Orchestra. She regularly performs for with the Oxford Philharmonic, London Contemporary Orchestra and the European Union Chamber Orchestra. She is also in great demand as a soloist and chamber musician.
Egyptian oboist, Wessam Amin is the solo oboist of the Cairo Symphony Orchestra as well as a professor of oboe in the Academy of Arts in Cairo. Wessam also plays as a guest principal oboist with orchestras in Egypt and beyond.
Finnish pianist Marko Hilpo has given chamber music and solo recitals in Finland as well as Dublin, Madrid and New York.
An exciting programme features works by Vivaldi, Ravel, Saint-Saens, Handel, Launis, Nielsen and Sharara.

The event ends about 10.15pm. Plenty of time to catch the train back to Plymouth. Calstock Arts is only a few minutes walk from Calstock Rail Station
