Brian Patten: Growing Up Before Your Very Eyes
From first to second childhood and back again, with much humour on the way!
Liverpool poet, Brian Patten’s hilarious, sometimes dark, sometimes heart-rending and always fascinating journey through a chaotic boyhood, a love-struck adolescence and a disrespectful middle-age, leaving him teetering on the brink of yet another childhood.
Brian made his name in the 1960s as one of the Liverpool Poets, alongside Adrian Henri and Roger McGough.
Their main aim was to make poetry immediate and accessible for their audience. The Mersey Sound (1967) has been credited as the most significant anthology of the twentieth century and is now a Penguin Modern Classic.
A selection of Brian’s books will be available after the show.
