Fruit Tree Golowan Week

Midsummer Songwriters' Night

Fruit Tree MIdsummer Songwriters' Night was founded by a collective of local musicians to showcase risk-taking local songwriters standing out from the crowd. These popular sell-out nights have since become a hallmark for high quality home grown new music and top-notch entertainment.

Fruit Tree is proud to be part of Golowan Festival, taking the opportunity to welcome back artists from last season with new material: Angeline Morrison and Kelsey Michael both play full length sets, May Robson (Miss Jones) and Greg Dyer go solo.

Come along and see how these unique musical voices have evolved.

Kelsey Michael:
Stepping out of her role as Fruit Tree host Kelsey uses her wide vocal palette and deft songwriter’s piano to bring shimmering new songscapes evoking Penwith. Al Stirling features on bass and Greg Dyer on percussion. Kelsey has performed and recorded with The High Llamas, and Jocelyn Pook, toured with the The, and received glowing reviews for previous song writing vehicle Minnow.

Angeline Morrison
performs captivating new songs, conjuring musical magic from a host of instruments including some more unusual choices such as melodica and xylophone alongside double bass and guitar. Angeline’s fruit tree rings would document many wonderful and fruitful collaborations, among them projects with The Mighty Sceptres, Nick Duffy, Emily and Angeline, and Ambassadors of Sorrow.

May Robson
singer/guitarist from Miss Jones debuts solo. Miss Jones have been much in demand locally this last year as well as being invited to Birmingham to be part of Music for Youth national festival, an appearance which led to a Music for Youth proms performance at The Albert Hall last autumn. May’s effortless vocal delivery of her beautiful jazz influenced songs makes for compelling listening.

Greg Dyer
is a guitarist/singer whose passion for Flamenco, Fado, Choro and other Latin musical forms can be heard clearly in his instrumental guitar pieces and song writing as he continues to explore a world
of rhythm and melody. Greg is also familiar in these parts as the percussionist driving the grooves for Kabasa, Tyn Daga and Falmouth’s Radio Rio.
