Under African Skies – performed by Gary Cordingly

As an extension to the National Storytelling Week celebrations in and around Falmouth from the 1st to the 8th of Feb, the Acorn will be hosting ‘Under African Skies’, an exciting and dynamic storytelling performance by professional storyteller, Gary Cordingley.
Lasting 70 minutes plus interval, the story is suitable for family audiences and includes live music and audience participation and is a wonderful way to spend a Sunday evening.
Mamadou is no hunter.
Neither is he a warrior and as his coming of age ritual approaches, he runs away from his village.
Join him on his journey of adventure and discovery as his trek becomes a rite of passage, collecting many stories along the way.
Whether it be singing, clapping, dancing or simply eating a giant flea in a clearing in the jungle with the king of the baboons, Under African Skies is as much about taking part as listening, and there are many opportunities for the audience to participate throughout the performance.
Gary draws on his 25 year background in storytelling, street theatre and music to present an energetic afternoon of storytelling, drumming and song, bringing to life the story of one boy’s journey into manhood.
This is a seated event.
