Cyprus Well, the literature development agency for the Southwest, is hosting this Writer Development Day at The Acorn Theatre, Penzance

 
The one-day event will offer aspiring and practising writers an invaluable opportunity to network together and to learn from industry professionals - celebrated author Sarah Duncan and established literary agent Clare Wallace of Darley Anderson Literary, TV and Film Agency
 
The day aims to cover a range of topics including: 
 
- How to take your writing from first draft to best-seller
- Creating, redrafting and rewriting your pitch
- Making the all important memorable first impression  
- How to get your work to market and the importance of a literary agent.
- An overview of the industry 
- How Cyprus Well can support you as a writer in the South West 
 
There will be talks, advice, a development session and a lively Q&A panel discussion to close the day.
 
Attendees are invited to bring along three copies of the first page of their novel and could then also 'win' a mini one-to-one session with literary agent Clare Wallace.
 
Tracey Guiry, CEO of Cyprus Well says “Cornwall has a fantastic collection of writers at all stages of their career. This day is designed to help new starters right through to refreshing the careers of more experienced writers.

Anyone who wants to find out how to seriously develop their work to the highest standard will enjoy the day – as well as meeting many other writers in the same position.

Sarah Duncan : First Impressions: creating your pitch.

Writers will be asked to put a tick on their favourite three ‘one pagers’.

Break for Lunch 12:45 pm to 1:45pm

Lunch – Attendees to bring a packed lunch

Three writers will be chosen at random to have a 'one to one' chat with the Literary agent – 10 mins each (12.45 to 1.15pm).

1:45pm to 2.45

Clare Wallace : Literary Agent – how to get your work to market

2.45 – 3.15

Clare Wallace : First page’ discussion with Writer and Agent – feedback, who were the top three, what separated them, Agent’s favourite, Writer’s favourite etc
