Support Kirsty Merryn
This evening we are delighted to welcome the acclaimed folk/rock band from London, The Rails.
Husband and wife team, James Walbourne and Kami Thompson witnessed their debut album Fair Warning (2014) win several awards including Mojo’s folk album of the year and BBC Folk Awards Best Newcomer.
Their second album Other People (2017) is described as ‘folk rock on steroids’. James was dubbed at the ‘teenage prodigy’, playing with musical giants including Son Volt, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Davies, The Pogues and The Pretenders.
Described by Nick Hornby as ‘an unearthly cross between James Burton, Peter Green and Richard Thompson’. The attuned harmonies of Kami and James are undoubtedly their calling card.
Supporting The Rails this evening is the exceptionally talented singer-songwriter Kirsty Merryn, whose music is heavily anchored in the folk tradition.
She has become a regular on the UK folk scene and having released her debut album to widespread critical acclaim, she supported Show of Hands on their UK tour in 2017.
We are delighted to have Kirsty supporting The Rails this evening, in what promises to be a Festival closing event to remember.
