Oscar Wilde's 'Lord Arthur Savile's Crime'
Lord Arthur Savile, a wealthy young man, is blissfully happy as he approaches his impending marriage to Sybil but her mother, Lady Julia, is less enthusiastic. To ensure that he will be faithful, she enlists the services of a palm reader to foresee any impediments to a happy married life.
Unknown to his future mother-in-law, Lord Arthur learns that he is to commit a murder. Determined to commit the act before the wedding he plans to rid himself of either his charming old aunt with a gambling problem or his uncle, the Dean of Paddington.
Aided by his faithful butler and an eccentric Russian anarchist he embarks on a campaign that involves poisoning, explosions and violent death.
Will he succeed?
How many times can a wedding be postponed?
And why does Lord Arthur have an imaginary dog?
Adapted by Constance Cox from a short story by Oscar Wilde this charming comedy is packed full of Wildean wit with a rich cast of characters.
