A charity concert in aid of Parkinson’s UK and St. Luke’s Hospice
‘I really don’t remember laughing so much before!’
‘…the beautiful voice of Michele Starkey, combined with the hilarious antics of Sam Freegard, all held together by the perfect accompaniment of Anthony Seddon, make it an evening we will all remember’
‘…all left the theatre with a feeling of having been given a prescription for a large tonic.’
I am delighted to announce that these amazingly talented and generous doctors have agreed to return to Kingsand after their sell-out concert here in 2014 when we raised nearly £1,300 for Bowel Cancer South West.
Medical Maelstrom sing clever and witty comic songs, composing many themselves.
They always perform completely free of charge for charity, travelling all the way up from West Cornwall, and this year we are raising money for Parkinson’s UK and St. Luke’s Hospice.
Michele Starkey began vocal training after completing her medical studies at the University of Glasgow. She has performed many major operatic and oratorio roles but her favourite gigs are with Maelstrom. She is a GP in St. Ives.
Sam Freegard studied medicine at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. After moving to Cornwall in 1982 he has performed many times at the Minack Theatre and has also toured in revue. He was a GP in St. Ives.
Anthony Seddon was a chorister at King’s College Cambridge, a music scholar at Clifton College, studied medicine at Magdalen College Oxford where he was a choral scholar, was in a pop group in the 60s and sang in Truro Cathedral Choir whilst working at Treliske Hospital. He was a GP in Penryn.
