'Eloise Tregeagle' - A Musical Cornish Tale

<B><I>'Eloise Tregeagle'</I></B>

Date: Saturday 23rd September 2017
Time: 19:30

Eloise Tregeagle

a musical Cornish tale.

A chance to preview a bold new piece of work -

Sail the musical high seas with TV, theatre and film actor Mary Woodvine and critically acclaimed local band Tyn Daga performing a special preview performance of their new musical Cornish tale ‘Eloise Tregeagle’.

Who is Eloise? To tell her story, we must delve deep into West Cornwall's history and traditions, visit far flung shores and reveal long held secrets.

Accused by those in power, betrayed, separated from her true-love, Eloise risks all to save what she holds most dear.

It’s a journey through the centuries for all ages, with songs and tales of love, loss and loyalty, steeped in Cornish folklore. Spanning the 16th and 17th Centuries, the story concludes with the voyage of The Rosebud from Newlyn to the Houses of Parliament in 1937.

Mary Woodvine draws the audience into a bygone world filled with original music, dramatic story telling and a host of compelling characters, with film and atmospheric soundscapes. It’s a feast for the imagination and the senses based around a series of narrative songs written by Tyn Daga's Gavin Nicol, a St Ives-born musician and composer, drawing particularly on his passion for Celtic music and his Cornish heritage.

Partly set in Newlyn and Mousehole, this gripping musical narrative has it all - Barbary pirates, shipwrecks, mysterious goings on, treachery, enduring love, plus a generous helping of local gossip!

This preview show presents a unique opportunity to enjoy a taste of what’s to come when the full show tours Cornwall next year. It also provides a chance to hear Tyn Daga perform some of the music they are best known for.

"I think it’s brilliant…This is the sort of stuff that’s needed out there, voices of today …A really exciting project." Pauline Sheppard, Playwright (Dressing Granite, Tin and Fishes, Cornish Voices, Hevva Hevva).

"...a great addition to the rural touring circuit." FEAST Cornwall.
