The Adventures of Mr Toad

are “Helping Jaydon to Walk”

Launceston Amateur Dramatic Society, LADS, are presenting this joyous family musical for children of all ages at the Town Hall in Launceston.

The show, written by Piers Chater Robinson is full of foot tapping numbers and tells the story of Toad and his adventures with his passion for motor cars, how he gets into trouble, into prison and out of it. It is a story about how he gets his house, Toad Hall back by defeating the Chief Weasel and his henchmen, falling in love on the way and is based on the story of “Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame. Mole, Rat and Badger help him on his merry way as they career across the countryside in a merry musical chase.

In a departure from recent productions, this is the first musical LADS have attempted in a while, it is also being staged to try and raise money to “Help Jaydon Walk”.

Half of any profits will go to a charity that is raising money to send young Jaydon to America for an operation which will allow him to walk with a frame. They need to raise £80,000 to “Help Jaydon Walk” and we hope the audiences will be large enough to help Jaydon on his way.
The “set” for the show is a number of brightly coloured children’s building blocks scaled up to a size which will ask the audience to use their imagination to picture the scene because after all “the best scenery is in the imaginations of the audience.”

The show is a romp down memory lane and is aimed at children of any age who read “Wind in the Willows” when they were younger children than they are now, it also aims to introduce anyone who missed that pleasure to the magical world of the riverbank and its inhabitants.

If you want to know more about “Helping Jaydon to Walk” you will find lots of information at www.jaydon.co.uk. LADS Facebook page will tell you more about the show and the tickets and there will be information on the LADS web site at www. launceston-drama.co.uk
