Sorry!
Date: Saturday 31st July
Time: 19:30
By Pierre Byland, Paddy Hayter & Footsbarn Theatre
Clowns and undertakers.
Actors and tractors.
Corpses and horses.
Theatre and circus.
Footsbarn have joined forces with Pierre Byland and Cirque Werdyn, a gypsy horse circus to bring you an evening of burlesque and anarchy with our Big Top at Carruran Farm, Polzeath.
"Sorry!" is a show that defies description, as the undertakers hold a funeral for a famous composer a family of gypsies arrive to celebrate a wedding all in the same place!
Will we toast the bride or mourn the departed, the battle is on......
The solemn funeral service of a renowned classical composer is interrupted by the sudden appearance of trained animals and anarchic party goers.
The same place has been hired to both honour the passing of this great musician as well as a Gypsy party.
From ill fated attempts at cohabitation to open warfare, the two sides attempt to cope with this unfortunate double booking, from Goethe, to Shakespeare, opera, performing animals and Gypsy music.
"Sorry!" is a gathering. Of turmoil. Of the two magnetic poles. Of conflict taken so far, it no longer makes sense, to the point of absurdity.

Carruan Farm, nr Polzeath - Location Map
Renowned for its exciting adaptations of classics such as Shakespeare & Moliere, transcending the barrier of language with its unique blend of visual theatre, music and magic. In thirty five years, Footsbarn has produced nearly 60 plays, travelled to the six Continents and is a truly multi-national group. The actors posess a multiplicity of talents and theatrical techniques, all of which inhabit and enrich every performance.
Footsbarn began life in Cornwall in 1971, rehearsing in a barn owned by the Foot family, hence its name. In 1984, the company left Britain to take its brand of theatre to international audiences and remained without a base until 1991 when a farm was purchased in central France, La Chaussée.
Today, its base is both a fully equipped production centre, complete with workshops, rehearsal space, office & studios, and also a centre for education. Over the last 15 years, Footsbarn has organised and staged numerous workshops; taught by actors from the company and other professionals associated with Footsbarn. At present, plans are being drawn up for a permanent school offering courses to both undergraduates and professionals.
