A natter and annihilation
How do you take your tea? Black with a twist of banality? One anxiety or two?
‘Escaped Alone’ showcases four disarming women who maintain the simple pleasures of tea and small talk interspersed with apocalyptic and increasingly absurdist visions of environmental collapse.
Caryl Churchill’s play deals with the ordinary and the extraordinary, at one level exploring the fragmented nature of memory and the experience of trauma and at another looking at how the media is reporting and trivialising the effect mankind is having on the planet.
Touch Theatre is committed to bringing strong political drama to local venues, and is delighted to be touring with an all female cast in this powerful work from one of Britain’s leading playwrights.
This play conjures up achingly funny visions of a dystopian world.
Has it already happened? Did we miss it or is it Apocalypse Dreckly?

Touch Theatre is a company of local actors, writers and directors based in Cornwall.
The productions we perform are very often non-naturalistic, allowing us to explore visual, physical and political ideas inspired by real life situations. Our approach involves movement, music and stylisation to enhance the emotions and dilemmas the characters face.
Touch Theatre has more recently concentrated on critically acclaimed works from established playwrights that portray feminist or political, social and environmental issues
