Mike & Solveig + Jim McAteer
Mike & Solveig's music can be characterised as experimental folk.
Mike Hastings (from Glasgow, Scotland) sings and plays guitar, banjo and strumstick, and Solveig Askvik (from Bergen, Norway) sings and plays the fiddle and glockenspiel.
They perform original songs and instrumentals reminiscent of The Incredible String Band, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Moondog, Syd Barrett, Bert Jansch and Ivor Cutler.
Best-known as a member of the psychedelic rock band The Trembling Bells, Mike also plays with Mike Heron (The Incredible String Band) and Will Oldham (AKA Bonnie Price Billy).
Mike & Solveig are both experienced musicians who have been part an integral of the Glasgow’s thriving scene for the last 17 years or so.

In 1967, a small group of enthusiasts who met weekly to sing in the Masons Arms decided to start a club to attract traditional performers to Cornwall. The first recorded club night of the Bodmin Traditional Folk Club was on 31st May 1968 in an upper room at The Barley Sheaf.
Since then, the club has met almost every single Friday night, welcoming a range of singers, musicians and occasional dancers from Britain and beyond at both guest nights and open houses.
Our new home is at St Petroc's Centre, opposite St Petroc's church. The Centre is not Licensed buy you're welcome to Bring Your Own ( Alcohol & Glasses! ). We've got Tea & Coffee, Soft drinks.
