Date: Saturday 24th June 2017
Cornwall Symphony Chorus
St Austell Youth Band
Cornwall Symphony Chorus, as one of the largest mixed choirs in the county, has a wide ranging repertoire from Abba to Zadok the Priest, something for everyone in all our concerts. Our musical director Alastair Taylor, himself a very talented singer, pianist and organist, draws the best from the chorus and the rich sound of over 130 voices has delighted audiences for almost a decade.
The Chorus will be preforming a medley of Broadway Melodies featuring songs from Beauty and the Beast, Fiddler on the Roof and Do You Hear the People Sing?. Other popular choices include One Voice, The Impossible Dream, The Way You Look Tonight and many more.
We are delighted to welcome St Austell Youth Band to be our guests on this occasion and look forward to hearing their sound from their talented young people. The youth band have been Youth Champions of the West of England Bandsmen’s Festival building on their previous success under the baton of their musical director Anna Minear.
Cornwall Symphony Chorus offers local charities and some national ones to conduct retiring collections at their concerts. Several thousand pounds have been raised through audience generosity on leaving the concerts.
This concert will enable the work of the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) to continue its vital work in preventing young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families
