Jack & The Beanstalk
Probus Parish Players present a show that will be something to remember… maybe mainly just to see our dame back in a dress and of course a dancing cow!
The kingdom is in trouble! The King has no money and has laid off all of his staff other than the Prime Minister. Giant Blunderbore and his partner in crime, the evil witch, Poison Ivy are blackmailing the King, forcing him to pay protection money or else the Giant will gobble him up and his daughter, Princess Rose too.
All that stands between them and the Giant's dinner plate is collection of unreliable misfits!
There is dizzy Dame Trott, facing eviction from her dairy by the royal family because she can’t pay her rent. Her son, Idle Jack, who dreams of marrying Princess Rose, Dozy Denise, the incompetent village idiot and the lovable, dancing cow, Buttercup. Not forgetting their guardian angel (or fairy) looking over them, Fairy Beansprout.
When Dame Trott’s financial situation hits rock bottom they decide to sell their only asset, Buttercup, the cow. En route to market, Jack bumps into an old lady who persuades him to sell Buttercup for a bag of magic beans. But how will this fairy-tale end?
Can this motley gang save the kingdom from destruction and beat the beastly Giant and the wicked Witch?
What can Fairy Beansprout do to help them?
Will the Giant’s housekeeper help defeat the witch?
An up-to-date, tried and tested script, jam-packed with jokes, slapstick, loveable characters and all the magic of traditional pantomime with enough audience participation to leave you hoarse by the end of the show. There’s ‘state of the art’ sound and lighting and a creatively designed set.
It’s a brilliantly different script with the expected bad pantomime jokes littered throughout that will surely brighten the dullest days of February.
With a fully licensed bar, ice cream and a raffle, don’t miss this fantastic piece of theatre history!
Maybe that’s a bit strong, but what we can promise is that it’s village pantomime at its very best!
