Date: Wednesday 30th November 2011
This appearance at St Ives Guildhall starts at 7.00pm with Cornish music and dancing from Bagas Porthia through to 7.30pm prior to 'Oogly Es Sin'
In this hilarious and touching one-man play, Dean Nolan plays Anthony Payne, the famous Cornish Giant.
By the time, Anthony Payne reached his twenty-first birthday he already stood seven foot two inches, and kept on growing!
Yet for all his size and bulk, he was always a gentle giant, nimble and dextrous to the letter. Every day, this Falstaff of the West had to question how it feels to be huge, in a world too set on being small.
With a script from acclaimed Cornish playwright Alan M. Kent, the lamentable ballad of Payne is as relevant to the twenty-first century’s age of body modification and genetic engineering as it was in the seventeenth-century’s period of dissolution and restoration.
Expect wit, darkness, donkeys and - oh - a tall bloke... a very tall bloke indeed...
