Magic Stones, Hepworth and the Rodin Museum Show

Tate St Ives Curator, Sara Matson, on Hepworth and her fascination with talismans, totems and magic stones.

The talk marks the special event of the Penwith Society of Artists (PSA) loaning their Hepworth sculpture ‘Magic Stone’ to the prestigious Musee Rodin in Paris.

It will be part of the first Barbara Hepworth retrospective in Paris opening this October, curated by Catherine Chevillot, Director of Musee Rodin, and Sara Matson of Tate St Ives.

This is an opportunity to hear Sara talk about the upcoming retrospective but also her research into Hepworth’s fascination with the concept of magic stones, totems, and talismans.

This is the second event funded by Cultivator and the European Structural & Investment Funds to enable St Ives School of Painting, Borlase Smart Trust and Penwith Galleries Ltd. to curate events that share their spaces and bring different networks together.

Doors Open : 5.00pm - Tea, Coffee & Cake
Talk starts : 5.30pm
Ends : 6.15pm

This is a Free event but please book your Free ticket as places are limited.

After this event you might want to stay to hear a talk by artist Steven Claydon about his work – he was a Porthmeor Artists’ Residency Programme guest in May.
