An Evening with Dickens -

Date: Friday 29th June 2012
Time: 19:00

St. Joseph’s presents, for one night only, “An Evening With Dickens” to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great author, Charles Dickens.

The evening features four playlets, adapted from his most famous novels:

You will be guided through the streets of the capital city where you will meet, from the dregs of society, such characters as the cunning, scheming Fagin, the sneaky pickpocket, The Artful Dodger and ‘Good’ Mrs Brown.

Taking you further afield to the marshes of Kent, you will meet the strangest woman you have ever seen- the recluse, Miss Havisham, and the rather unfortunate Pip.

Moving on to the wilds of Yorkshire, you will visit the despicable Mr and Mrs Squeers and the poor unfortunate boys left at their mercy in Dotheboys Hall.

Interlaced with the drama, you will also experience entertainment typical of the Victorian era to include music hall – style singing and dancing and be invited to visit the ‘Victorian Gentleman’s Club’ where you will be able to eat and sup your fill.

The Ticket price includes Dickensian nibbles and a glass of punch!!
