Fundraising for Great Ormond Street Hospital
Amelia Hosken was born with a genetic condition called Craniosynostosis.
When we are born, the sutures in our skull are usually separated giving our brain the opportunity to grow as we get older. These sutures do fuse in adulthood.
In Amelia's case, they were fused at birth resulting in this condition. The condition can result in the child having problems with their sight due to raised pressures behind the eyes, hearing, speech, and possibly learning difficulties.
We feel very grateful that Amelia's condition does not affect her day to day life
We have to attend GOSH once a year for outpatient check ups and we are always amazed by the wonderful work that takes place at this hospital. There are some very poorly children there and it makes you very humble and very grateful for what you have.
